Conference on Internet Governance & Cyber-Security

The School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University is hosting a major forum in collaboration with the Global Internet Governance Commission to examine critical issues associated with Internet governance and cyber security.

This two day conference will include participation from GCIG commissioners Fen Osler Hampson, Michael Chertoff, Beth Simone Noveck, Joseph S. Nye, Marietje Schaake and Tobby Simon. GCIG research advisers at the conference include Laura DeNardis, Leslie Daigle, Andrew Wyckoff, Christopher S. Yoo, Carolina Rossini, Konstantino Komaitis and Ronaldo Lemos.

The event will include:

  • Nine panels over one and a half days.
  • Over 40 thought leaders including leading Columbia University faculty from SIPA, business, law, engineering, journalism, influential US and international policy makers, entrepreneurs, legal experts, technologists, and corporate executives from around the world.
  • An agenda covering the most pressing policy issues in the worlds of internet governance and cyber-security including privacy, security, innovation, international trade and cross border data flows, data protectionism, human rights, freedom of expression and much more.
  • A series of expert background papers that form a basis for discussion for each of the panels.
